Officers have uncovered a cannabis grow at a property in Church Street, Gainsborough, following a report of suspicious behaviour outside of the address.
Our Force Control Room received a call at 4.38am this morning (9 March) reporting that a number of people had been seen entering the property and loading items into a vehicle. Officers were immediately dispatched to the area.
On arrival, officers discovered a cannabis grow inside the property. A 50‑year‑old man found at the address was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. He remains in police custody.
A vehicle believed to be connected to the incident was stopped shortly afterwards on the A1 near Colsterworth. A 36‑year‑old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal. He remains in police custody.
A second vehicle thought to be involved was also stopped in Leicestershire this morning. Four men were arrested:
-A 22‑year‑old man on suspicion of burglary and theft with no violence, and on suspicion of drug driving. -A 26‑year‑old man on suspicion of burglary and theft with no violence. -A 27‑year‑old man on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal. -A 42‑year‑old man on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal.
All four men remain in police custody.
Officers will remain at the scene and in the local area carrying out enquiries. We are now asking for anyone with information to get in touch.
We are especially interested in reviewing any CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the Church Street area, as well as any suspicious activity captured around the wider Gainsborough area leading towards the A1, around the time the incident was reported.
