Reminder to Lock Vehicles After Recent Arrest |
||
|
Good morning,
In the early hours of Sunday 8th March, at approximately 3:00am, police received a call from a local resident reporting a suspicious male checking car doors. Officers attended the Ashfield Road and Meadowgate areas of Urmston promptly. A male was located and arrested on suspicion of interference with a motor vehicle. Following enquiries, the individual was charged with 3 offences of interference with a motor vehicle. For a previous matter, he was also recalled to prison. After reviewing CCTV from the area, officers confirmed that the offender was specifically targeting vehicles that had been left unlocked. We would like to remind residents to double‑check that their vehicles are locked and that valuables are not left inside. Taking a moment to secure your car greatly reduces the risk of opportunistic crime. We want to reassure the community that the male has been dealt with appropriately and is no longer in the community. There is no ongoing risk to residents. We thank the member of the public whose vigilance helped prevent further offences. If you see anything suspicious, please continue to report it to us via 999, 101 (non-emergency) or via online chat.
Thank you
Trafford North Neighbourhood
