Weekly Update from your local Bablake NPT
Dear Members
Here’s your weekly update from myself and the rest of the team.
What’s Been Happening
Rouge Traders Spring is finally around the corner and it's time to get back out in the garden to prune and tidy. Please be alert to rouge tree surgeons/ landscapers taking the new season as an opportunity to cold call which we have received a report of. Always be cautious of any person turning up on your doorstep offering services or goods. If you are cold called, the best thing to do is to ask them to leave immediately. If they refuse, call the police on 101, if you feel threatened 999.
Carpark Thefts Also, for general awareness, there have been reports of vehicles being stolen from shopping centre car parks in different areas of the city. Shopping centres can work in favour of thieves as they are often busy and people are distracted. Please keep your vehicle safe: Preventing car and vehicle theft | Crime Prevention | West Midlands Police
Patrols Your neighbourhood team have been patrolling areas which have recently suffered vehicle crime and checking known vehicle ‘deposition sites’. These are locations where stolen vehicles are routinely left by offenders. This set a stolen motorbike and car have been found and recovered.
As well as patrols, the team have promptly been carrying out initial enquiries for theft from motor vehicles. This has led us to two different suspects. One suspect was identified and arrested in less than 24 hours.
Other News You may recall in November, members of the team stopping a male on KERESLEY ROAD who initially gave false details, after checks and finding out his true identity he was wanted for burglary. He was arrested at the time and remanded. Following further investigations by other departments, he was also charged with blackmail, possession of a knife and assault by beating. The male and an accomplice stole cars and burgled houses across the city. The pair also threatened or assaulted anyone who tried to stop them. Both the male and accomplice have now been sentenced and given a combined jail term of more than a decade
Police Meeting Officers will be attending Allesley Village Hall on Wednesday 1st April 2026 10:00 am to 11:00 am. We will be in the committee room.
Please feel free to drop in and meet your local policing team and to raise any issues in your area.
Crime Figures Over the past nine days, two vehicles have been stolen from the Bablake ward being a BMW motorcycle from BIRMINGHAM ROAD and a Land Rover from BUTTS LANE.
Over the same period, one residential burglary has been reported on HORNETS CLOSE where suspect has entered through backdoor. An untidy search was made and car keys stolen although suspect(s) unable to move vehicle due to a ghost immobiliser.
Until next week Stay safe everyone.
