Monthly Community Update from Sgt Simic, March/April 2026 |
Dear Residents of Solihull Rural (East), I hope you are all keeping well as we look forward to the coming Spring, and with it hopefully some better weather. I have now been in post as your local Neighbourhood Sergeant for 3 months, and during that time my team’s focus has been firmly on addressing key issues that matter most to our communities. We have been working closely with partners, local businesses and residents to make sure concerns are not only heard but acted upon. Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and associated criminal offences (criminal damage, public order, assaults) has continued to be our biggest driver of demand, with further incidents occurring at the NEC and Resorts World. We have issued a number of banning notices to several offenders, and if repeat offenders are identified we will look to prosecute. There has also been an uptick of ASB in the Knowle & Dorridge areas. We are working closely with the schools to identify those responsible. We do not tolerate anti-social behaviour in any form. We have made significant advances in tackling shop theft across our patch. We have arrested and charged several of our key serial shoplifters in Marston Green and will continue to take a tough stance against this crime, which given the current cost of living crisis, is on the rise nationally. All shop lifters upon being charged with a criminal offence are now being issued with Community Protection Warnings and Notices, giving extra level of protection for shops, and further enforcement options for us. Fly-tipping is another issue that’s recently cropped up for us. We have had 4 reported incidents recently; all at isolated rural locations. The number of unreported fly-tipping is higher. We are working with the council to get the sites cleared up and will be stepping up patrols in these hotspots. Please get in touch with us if you have any information relating to this. We are dealing with lots of neighbour disputes across our area. I would like to remind residents that noise complaints and parking disputes are generally considered civil matters and are to be reported to the council. I wish you all a lovely Easter.
Upcoming Events: March: April: Details of future meetings and events can be found on the force website by searching “Your area”, or via the link below (which is updated regularly): Solihull Rural | Your area | West Midlands Police | West Midlands Police
