|
Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week.
Reported Crime and Appeals
We have received a few reports of suspicious activity around Lutterworth road (where the road works are). If you see anyone behaving suspiciously, mainly overnight, please call Police immediately. We are completing patrols in the area as and when we are available.
Report of a theft of a Ford Focus from Begonia Drive sometime between the 1st and 2nd of March. It appears the vehicle was taken at around 19:45 on the 1st. Vehicle was parked near a garage, no sign of damage so may have been a keyless theft. Please ensure you are using steering locks and RFID car key wallets. Please leave vehicles near your property and under street lighting/CCTV if possible. 26000121071
We have received several reports of suspicious activity from areas such as Sapcote Road, Kensington Avenue and Salisbury Road. Some of these have been identified as calls of good intent, others are unknown reason. Please continue to be vigilant and ensure you call Police immediately if you see what you believe to be a crime in progress. Whilst our last report of suspicious activity on Sketchley Road turned out to be the milkman, it is great that residents are keeping a look out but it is important that Police are given the opportunity to attend and complete an area search at the time, as this helps identify those involved and may prevent crime.
Over the last week, Police have received 22 calls. Two of these calls were emergency and nine were priority calls. The majority of calls were domestic related.
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
Vehicle Stop search completed by officers on patrol on Sapcote road at 21:15 on the 3rd of March.
We have visited the Amazon Warehouse on Avery Way where we have planned in a visit to speak to staff around a range of subjects. We will be speaking about subjects such as E-scooters, vehicle laws (tax/mot/insurance) and other general road safety messages.
We have been completing patrols around parks and residential areas, speaking to residents and completing some youth related work. We also have a lot of community engagement being planned in over the coming months with visits to local events, beat surgeries, the spring and summer fairs as well as a crime prevention event we are organising for later in the year. Hopefully some of this pro-active work will reduce crime such as residential burglary and vehicle theft throughout the year. We will also be planning in work with schools, before the main holidays to reduce any anti-social behaviour and some road safety work.
We will be completing some partnership working with Hinckley council on Wednesday morning around the areas of Hereford Way, Forryan Road and Duport Road.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
Remember that the clocks change this Sunday (29th March) whereat 0100, they will move to 0200. Unfortunately, we lose an hour sleep. Please ensure that if you have any CCTV systems that do not automatically change, please check this and change to the correct time. It can save a bit of confusion when we, and you, check your footage.
Online blackmail can be a concern and cause a lot of anxiety and stress to victims. It can affect people of all ages. Below is a link to Police.uk regarding sextortion, which will explain what it is and how to report it.
Here are a few of dates for your diary where there are local events that we plan on attending with our crime prevention items, or pop along for a chat. (the times are approximately correct) Beat surgery, SPAR Lutterworth Road, 1500-1630 on the 19/03/2026 Burbage Infants Spring Fair 1200-1600 on the 02/05/2026 Burbage Congregational Church, Church Street, 0900-1230 on the 06/07/2026 Burbage Summer Fair, Britannia Road playing fields, 1200-1700 on the 28/06/2026
