Good News- Op Recall |
||
|
This week the Rural Crime Team have been busy offering education to dog walkers in relation to Op Recall, which is a national operation with regards to livestock worrying.
Over the next few weeks there is likely to be an increase of livestock in fields, with the weather seemingly warming up (maybe I'm being optimistic!) and famers turning out new spring lambs into their fields.
The team have been out to busy dog walking routes with different Safer-Neighbourhood Teams, including Warwick Rural East, Southam, Rugby Rural South, Rugby Rural North and Rugby Rural Central to offer education around the importance of having your dog(s) under control around livestock.
What is livestock worrying? This is when a dog is not under control in an area where livestock are present. A dog doesn't have to make contact with an animal, it includes chasing and racing about. Livestock have been known to have broken their limbs, suffocated, had a cardiac arrest, aborted their unborn, or suffered later when giving birth after being chased by a dog.
How can you help? If you have livestock and would like a “Dog on Lead” sign then please email the team on RuralCrimeTeam@warwickshire.police.uk.
Please report any incidents via 101/www.warwickshire.police.uk and always 999 in an emergency.
Kind regards
Rural Crime Team
