Speed Checks |
||
|
Good morning, residents,
Speeding remains a major factor in around one‑third of all fatal road traffic collisions and is a significant contributor to serious injuries.
Higher speeds reduce reaction time, increase stopping distances, and greatly worsen the impact of any collision.
Even small increases in speed can make a big difference. For example, a pedestrian has a far higher chance of survival if struck at 30mph rather than 35mph.
Following a recent meeting with Bidborough Parish Council, concerns were raised about speeding—particularly along Bidborough Ridge.
On Saturday 28th February, PC Simpson and I carried out roadside speed checks in the area. Several motorists were spoken to regarding their speed and were reminded about road safety.
Further speed checks will be conducted throughout the year as this remains a priority for local residents.
Kind regards,
