Scams Prevention Message

Dear Resident,

I want to bring to your attention an ongoing matter that was brought to my attention today, 05/03/2026, during my routine patrol in the community.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you to be particularly cautious of individuals who may come knocking on your door, offering to perform work at what they claim is a reasonable price. 

Unfortunately, it has become increasingly common for these individuals to charge exorbitantly high prices once the work is completed, often leaving residents feeling deceived and frustrated. 

This issue has been reported multiple times within our community, and it is essential that we stay informed and proactive in protecting ourselves from such practices.

Please be aware that if someone you do not recognise or have never seen before approaches you with an offer of services, it is advisable not to engage with them. If you express that you are not interested in their services, I encourage you to promptly close your door and refrain from any further conversation. 

It is important to remember that your safety and comfort at home should always come first.

Should you decide to allow someone to carry out work on your property, it is imperative to gather as much information as possible about them. Obtain their full name, the name of their business if applicable, vehicle registration number, full address, and a reliable contact phone number. 

If they provide a mobile phone number, make sure to call it while they are present to ensure it is genuine. If they give you a landline number, take the time to call that too, and ask for the individual by the name they provided.

Additionally, if you observe these individuals working on a neighbour’s property and they subsequently come to your door, please remain cautious. Just because they are currently engaged in work nearby does not guarantee their reliability or the quality of their service. 

Follow the steps mentioned above to protect yourself from any potential scams.
