Electric bikes

Tonight, officers have seized an electric bike on Potto Street after it was ridden in an antisocial manner. 

We want to be clear, we do not want to ruin children's fun. We understand that electric bikes are popular, and, when used responsibly and legally, they can be enjoyable.

However, we cannot ignore what has been happening on Potto Street. Antisocial riding, particularly on illegal bikes, poses a risk to pedestrians, other road users and the rider themselves. After a warning has been given, continued behaviour like this will result in enforcement action. 

We ask parents and guardians to please check that any electric bikes being used are legal and that they are being ridden safely and respectfully. 

We will continue to monitor the area closely and take action where necessary.
