Appeal following serious assault in Fratton.

We were called by our colleagues from South Central Ambulance Service shortly after 7:45pm on Tuesday 3 March after a 43-year-old man had been assaulted on Somers Road North at around 6:25pm.

He was subsequently taken to Southampton General Hospital to be treated for a head injury. He remains in hospital in a serious, but stable, condition.

Two men, aged 34 and 54, have both been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. They remain in custody at this time.

Our initial enquiries suggest a number of potential witnesses were in the area at the time.
