Officers from the London Bridge and West Bermondsey Safer Neighbourhood Teams recently delivered a joint child‑safety engagement initiative aimed at supporting pupils preparing to start secondary school this September. As part of the programme, officers were invited to a on going event that shows children and young males with learning difficulties the kind of issues that they may come across while traveling across London or even their local town, provide crime‑prevention advice and practical guidance for new Year 7 pupils. The sessions focused on helping young people stay safe during their daily journeys to and from their new high schools, including: The event featured a surprise special guest: the Mayor of Southwark, who joined officers to show support for the initiative and encourage pupils to feel confident and prepared as they begin the next step in their education. The partnership between local schools, the Met, and the Mayor’s Office represents our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of young people across London Bridge and West Bermondsey.
