Multiple Arrests In Town Centre Crime Blitz, Kirklees

Police teams formed to take on criminals in your town centre have made multiple arrests in a mini blitz on crime.

Seventeen arrests were made from Saturday onwards for assault, drug dealing, shoplifting and more as part of a continued push by the Huddersfield and Dewsbury town centre teams to support retailers and make the towns safer.

Officers made nine arrests on Monday (2 March) alone and have also been meeting with businesses in Dewsbury to discuss how police can support businesses in the town centre.

Arrests made included those of three women for shoplifting, five males for shoplifting and a man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

A woman wanted for offending was also recalled to prison.

Winter operations in both towns to make streets safer continued in February with Huddersfield officers again deploying in plain clothes to work with Kirklees BID and security from town centre stores to target prolific shoplifters.
