Keyless Vehicle Theft |
||
|
Residents,
We are seeing a significant rise in thefts involving keyless vehicles, with Land Rover / Range Rovers being particularly targeted. Offenders are using sophisticated methods to exploit keyless entry systems, often enabling them to start and steal vehicles within seconds.
To help protect your vehicle, we strongly encourage the following preventative measures:
Install an immobiliser - Consider fitting an approved immobiliser that cuts off the vehicles engine. This can prevent offenders from driving the vehicle away even if they manage to unlock it. Block your vehicle in - When possible, park another vehicle in front of yours or position it in a way that makes it difficult for offenders to make off quickly. Store keys securely - Keep fobs away from doors and windows, ideally in a signal blocking pouch to reduce the risk of relay attacks. Use visible deterrents - Steering wheel locks and driveway bollards can discourage offenders who are looking for quick, low-effort opportunities.
Taking these steps can significantly reduce the risk of theft and make your vehicle a far less attractive target.
