We’re asking residents to help us tackle offences of theft from and of motor vehicles across the area. These offences are often committed by opportunists looking for quick access to unsecured vehicles — but together, we can significantly reduce the risk.

Even small steps can significantly reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim:

1. Secure Your Vehicle Every Time

Double‑check that your vehicle is locked, even if you’re only leaving it briefly.

Ensure windows, sunroofs and sliding doors are fully closed.

2. Remove or Hide All Valuables

Offenders often look for something visible through a window.

Remove bags, coats, tools, laptops, sat‑navs, loose change, and phone cables.

Wipe away sat‑nav suction marks, which offenders recognise.

3. Protect Keyless Entry Vehicles

If your vehicle uses keyless entry:

Keep keys in a Faraday pouch at home to block signal cloning.

Consider a steering wheel lock or OBD port protector as added deterrents.

4. Park Smart

Choose well‑lit areas or car parks with CCTV where possible.

Park close to kerbs or walls to restrict access to doors and the boot.
