Dear NHM users,
Across 7 separate days during the month of February the Oswestry Rural North Safer Neighbourhoods Police Officer Michael Hogg, assisted at times by other SNT officers, completed 40 Speed Enforcement operations in an attempt to make our roads safer to use. These operations have occurred across 28 different locations in each of the 4 Safer Neighbourhood patrol areas of Oswestry Central, Rural North, Rural South and Ellesmere Town and Rural.
As a result of these operations 209 vehicles were recorded as exceeding the speed limits in place and have been reported for prosecution. One vehicle was recorded as travelling at 59mph on a road with a 30mph speed limit in place the result of which will be a summons to court where they will have to explain their actions to a magistrate. Other offenders could receive Speed Awareness courses or a fine and 3 points endorsed to their licence.
Excess Speed has no place on our roads which is agreed with by each of Oswestry’s and Ellesmere’s 18 Parish Councils as it is one of their three selected priorities. It is also agreed with by a large portion of our communities with concerns raised by them and action taken by us here in the Safer Neighbourhoods Team and West Mercia Police on a whole with other Roads Policing departments also playing their parts.
Keep Safe, Travel Safe and Arrive Safe. Thank you.
