PCSO MONTHLY WARD UPDATE
Welcome to your monthly Hangleton & Knoll Ward update by Beat PCSO Sharon Baker for the month of February.
Ward Priorities Speeding Vehicles, Non-compliant Electric Bikes, Anti-Social Behaviour
Ward Update Currently some key concerns in the area include: Speeding vehicles in the 20mph speed limit area. Modified electric bikes (no pedalling required), speeding on the roads and pavements. Youths stealing alcohol. Speeding vehicles remain a risk to drivers and pedestrians, if you witness this happening please submit a report on the Op Crackdown website. The website can be used to report anti-social driving and abandoned vehicles in Sussex. www.operationcrackdown.org. If you witness speeding electric bicycles, please also make a report with as much detail as you can. Dates and times will help to build a picture of the areas of most concern and action can then be taken. This can be reported on the non-emergency number 101, or Sussex Police website. www.sussex.police.uk – report a crime. Theft is a criminal offence and the age of criminal responsibility is 10 in England, there are alternative measures that can be taken below that age. We are continuing to see theft from young people who walk into our local businesses and take items without paying, on a regular basis. The theft of alcohol by a child also raises great concerns and these need to be reported by anyone witnessing it – this behaviour should not go unchallenged, as there is greater risk to a child who consumes alcohol. Images of those involved can be used to identify the details of that child and safeguarding can be put in place. Patrols will be carried out to assist where possible and evidence gathered to pursue individuals.
Burglaries for the month of February have taken a drop, which is great news. However, please take every precaution when at home or away, to keep doors and windows locked and if possible, add extra security features such as cctv, lights etc. Crime figures for the month are in line with February last year, with no new trends showing.
Incidents of Note / Any other Business Police received reports of a door to door salesman thought to be suspicious, a female believed she was being followed after exiting a bus (male having spoken to her on the bus). Youth anti-social behaviour (shouting, knocking/kicking doors, abusive language). Fighting in the street, SORN car being driven, Rogue Trader and Counterfeit money.
