practical burglary advice |

Dear Residents, We would like to remind residents to remain vigilant, particularly if you are planning to be away from your home. Burglaries often increase at this time of year, with offenders targeting properties that appear unoccupied.
Please consider the following crime prevention advice:
• Ensure all doors and windows are locked before leaving your property • Use timer switches for lights to give the impression your home is occupied • Avoid advertising holidays or expensive gifts on social media • Ask a trusted neighbour or friend to keep an eye on your property and remove post or parcels • Keep valuables out of sight and consider using a safe for important items • Secure sheds, garages, and side gates • If you have a burglar alarm or CCTV, ensure it is working and set correctly
If you notice any suspicious activity, please report it immediately to the police. In an emergency, always call 999. For non-emergencies, contact 101.
Let’s work together to keep our community safe. Please tell your friends or neighbours about Met Engage and ask them to join up to stay up to date with what their local police are doing
