We are aware of phone scams circulating in your area. These can include:
Bank Scams: Calls supposedly from your bank about fraudulent use of your bank account or bank cards. Undercover Police Scams: Calls from someone claiming to be the 'undercover police', claiming that they're investigating a member of staff at your bank and asking for your card details. Computer or mobile repair scams: Person may call and tell you that your device has a virus, and that you need to download software to fix it Sales and Investment Calls: Unwanted or pushy sales calls, or investment opportunities that seem too good to be true. To protect yourself from phone scams, consider the following advice: Do not provide personal information: Be cautious of unsolicited calls and avoid sharing personal details or financial information. Verify the caller's identity: Legitimate businesses will usually call you back to confirm your details. Report suspicious calls: If you receive a call from a number that does not match the business you are trying to contact, report it to the police. Use trusted services: If you receive a scam call, use services like Report Fraud to report it and help track down scammers. Stay informed: Keep up with the latest scams and tips from trusted organisations like Age UK and Report Fraud Alert. Educate Yourself: Learn to spot common scam tactic and how to protect yourself from them.
