With Ramadan in full swing, I’ve been making a real effort to spend around half an hour each day outside our local Mosque. Ramadan is a special and deeply meaningful month, and it’s important to me that everyone can come and go peacefully while they pray. It’s also turned into a wonderful chance to see many of our hard‑working residents who I might otherwise miss during daytime hours. And of course, as many of you know, we don’t just show up for one community — we’re there for all of them. Whether it’s visiting our Churches during festivals, or popping into a Jewish school and handing out an honestly ridiculous number of “I have Met the Met!” stickers, we try to celebrate the full range of faiths and cultures that make our area so vibrant. Alongside all of this, patrols continue as usual. Today, I was out in Cromwell Close, where it seems some of our drug dealers have been spending their evenings. I’ve been hearing your concerns loud and clear, and we’re already looking at ideas for the next stage of enforcement. More to come on that soon. There’s also some excellent team news: PC Lawrence WESTON has officially joined us! In true Met fashion, he’s arrived on a completely different shift pattern to mine, but we’re hoping to sort that out. Once we’re finally aligned, we’ll make quite the team over the next few weeks. Every day, we’re working hard to improve the quality of life for our residents. I know it can sometimes feel like a giant game of Whack‑a‑Mole — deal with one issue and another pops up straight away — but please know there is a long‑term plan behind the scenes. Bit by bit, we’re creating a more hostile environment for those who want to commit crime in our neighbourhood.
