NOTICE
Your dedicated Safer Neighbourhoods Team is here to support you and address crime and disorder concerns in your area. If you have any issues you would like to discuss, please contact your local team.
We would like to make you aware of a recent burglary that occurred on Winstead Gardens, Dagenham.
Offenders gained entry through the rear garden door, which had not been double-locked. Please remember: “Lift, Lock, Remove.”
We are asking residents to check whether they saw or heard anything suspicious, or whether their CCTV, Ring doorbell or dash‑cam captured anything of value between:
🕒 Saturday 21st February 2026 – 14:00 to 18:00 hours

We also ask all residents to remain extra vigilant and consider the following crime prevention advice, both when going out and at bedtime:
Lock all uPVC doors and windows, remove the key, and place the door chain on overnight.
Keep car keys, house keys, and valuables away from the hallway to prevent letterbox theft.
For unexpected callers, use the chain or latch to give yourself time to check their identity.

 While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you: Double lock your door every time you leave the house If you can, move garden furniture or bins away from windows so that thieves cannot use them to gain access. Use laminated glass or security film on ground floor and accessible windows. Use a sash stop if you have sash windows to prevent people opening them enough to climb through. If your windows open outwards, use a key operated lock – check these are locked before leaving the house. Make sure all valuables are out of sight. Keep handbags and keys away from letterboxes or cat flaps. In the evening shut the curtains and leave lights on. Set your burglar alarm Lock your shed or garage Mark, register or record your valuables.
