Over the last two evenings, Ashford CSU have teamed up Beat Officers and the Neighbourhood Task Force to put additional resources into the rural areas, specifically for the purpose of disrupting and deterring rural crime. On top of the stop searches, visible patrolling, attendance to reports of catapults in High Halden, to reports of hare coursing in Aldington and numerous vehicle stops, some of the good work we achieved over the two shifts includes: An arrest for drink driving after a male crashed his vehicle before Junction 9 of the M20, fleeing the scene into the embankment. He was located just off the A20 near to Hothfield by Beat Officers and quickly apprehended after a short foot chase. A Property Marking Event was held in Biddenden to help those that become victims of rural breaks or tool/plant thefts to have their goods safely returned when they are recovered by Police. Also attendance to a number of vulnerable building sites with plant and machinery, for security advice to be given to those in charge of managing the locations. The Neighbourhood Task Force located a male in possession of suspected stolen Lego products as well as a small stanley blade. He has since been charged by the Volume Crime Team and is being remanded to Court for his first hearing. Beat Officers located two vehicles on the A2070 travelling in convoy with cloned number plates, resulting in a pursuit when they failed to stop, through Shadoxhurst and the outskirts of Bethersden before one vehicle came off the road and crashed, with the other vehicle later being located abandoned in Hamstreet. Cash, Cannabis and phones suspected to be linked to County Lines drug supply were recovered from the vehicle using cloned plates with both vehicles now awaiting forensic exams due to the drivers fleeing the scene. An arrest for Drug Supply and Money Laundering after a vehicle was stopped in Woodchurch that was linked to drug supply. Cash and a small amount of drugs were found in the vehicle, with property searches after arrest being completed and more large quantities of cash being recovered. The male involved has since been released on Police Bail. This is a great example of some of the work that goes on in and around the areas you live within and will continue to happen!
