Neath man serving 14-year sentence for rape and violent offences gets further ten years in prison |

|
A man from Neath will spend almost a quarter of a century behind bars after he was found guilty of the historical rape of a woman. 40-year-old Simon Morgan’s latest conviction relates to the rape of a victim in 2015, pre-dating his 2025 convictions for rape, coercive controlling behaviour and ABH against a different victim in 2021. This week, Morgan, of Groves Road, has been handed an extended 10-year jail sentence. This will be served consecutively to the 14-year sentence he was given in April of 2025 after being found guilty of other violent and sexual offences. Rape Investigation Team Officer Emma Robbins said: “Simon Morgan’s sexual and violent offending is disgusting and is not limited to just one victim. He is a permanent threat to women’s safety and there is no doubt that had his brave victims not come forward, he would be committing these same offences to someone else today. “We commend the victims for their immense bravery in speaking out. The Rape Investigation Team led a thorough investigation into Simon Morgan’s crimes, and this has resulted in a horrible man finally facing justice. “It is pleasing to see such a violent and dangerous man – one who has repeatedly exploited his power over defenceless women – consigned to such a large prison sentence.” We never underestimate how difficult it is for survivors of sexual abuse to speak out and report. But we hope cases like this one provide reassurance that victims will be listened to, treated with dignity and respect, and will be supported throughout the judicial process. If you have been sexually abused, and you are not yet ready to report to police, please don’t suffer in silence. A wealth of information and details of support services can be found here. *In line with the victim's wishes, we have not published Simon Morgan's custody image. We ask commenters to be respectful of these wishes.
