Speeding in Willingdon Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve attended a handful of road traffic collisions (RTCs) on Seven Sisters Road in Willingdon.
Seven Sisters Road is a residential area with a 30mph speed limit. However, we are aware that it is sometimes being driven as though this speed limit doesn't exist.
Excessive speed significantly reduces reaction time, increases stopping distances, and greatly raises the risk of serious injury - particularly in areas where families, children, cyclists and pedestrians are present.
We are asking all motorists to please:
- Stick to the 30mph speed limit. - Drive to the conditions and be prepared for parked vehicles and pedestrians. - Avoid distractions and stay alert at all times -Be considerate to those who live in the area
Speed limits are not targets, they are there to keep everyone safe.
We understand the concern this is causing within the community. We will be working with the appropriate partners to explore what further measures can be put in place to help prevent additional incidents and improve road safety in the area.
If you have concerns about speeding or dangerous driving, please report it by phoning 101, or 999 in an emergency.
Half term engagement!
We had a great day yesterday (19th) at Knockhatch, meeting families and young people from across our communities.
Joined by East Sussex Fire and Rescue, our officers spent the day speaking with children and parents about staying safe, what to do in an emergency and the different roles within the emergency services.
There was plenty to get involved in, from trying on uniform to colouring activities - all designed to help young people feel confident approaching us and understanding what we do.
Days like this are an opportunity to build trust, answer questions and offer reassurance.
Thank you to everyone who came over to see us, we loved meeting you! | ||
