Tips to prevent your pick up truck from being stolen

Most offences that involve a vehicle being broken into are normally committed by opportunist thieves who will walk the streets looking for items that have been left in the vehicle. In this case we have information that would suggest pick ups are being targeted, especially when parked outside or near the owner’s address.

So, what can you do to reduce the risk of your pick up truck being targeted?

Below are some tips you could consider which will make your pickup less attractive to a thief.

Keep the pick-up locked when you are not in it and ensure you double lock it.

Make sure that your pick up truck alarm is set.

If it is keyless entry, make sure you put the keys in a faraday pouch to prevent a relay theft.

Use additional security measures such as steering wheel locks, that will make it much more difficult to steal the pick up truck.

Consider fitting motion activated CCTV that will alert you to movement near your pick up truck.
