Dear resident A partial closure order has been granted for an address in Hemel Hempstead following concerns around anti-social behaviour and drugs use.
The order, which was granted at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Friday (13 February), prevents anyone but the tenant from entering an address in Clarendon Close for three months.
Anyone who breaches the order can be arrested.
The Dacorum Community Safety Unit (CSU) worked alongside partner agencies to take action, following concerns that the tenant had become a victim of cuckooing – placing them at risk of harm, exploitation and coercion.
Cuckooing involves criminals taking over the homes of vulnerable people to use as a base for their activities.
Police have received reports of anti-social behaviour and suspected drug dealing linked to the address, which is causing a great deal of concern and distress among those living in the area.
Sergeant Christopher Bignell, from the CSU, said: “Safeguarding vulnerable members of the community is of the utmost importance. Securing an order of this kind enables victims to stay within their homes while they receive support to help turn their lives around.
“We will always do everything we can to target those who are causing misery and fear among local communities and we are already gathering evidence to apply for orders against further problem properties.
