Officers patrolling in Charlestown |
||
|
PC Jones and PC Vernon have been patrolling in the Charlestown area of Manchester today following numerous burglary reports over the last few days. Officers conducted high-visibility reassurance patrols to raise awareness amongst residents and to provide practical crime prevention guidance aimed at safeguarding individuals and their property.
During the patrols, officers engaged directly with members of the community and distributed leaflets containing burglary prevention advice. Residents were encouraged to ensure that all doors and windows are securely locked, even when at home, and to consider the installation of additional security measures such as door chains, window locks, CCTV systems, and motion-activated lighting. Emphasis was placed on keeping valuables out of sight and ensuring that side gates and boundary fences are properly secured.
Vehicle owners were advised to remove all valuables from vehicles, ensure vehicles are locked at all times, utilise steering wheel locks where appropriate, and park in well-lit areas or secure garages whenever possible. Residents were also reminded not to leave keys near doors or windows where they could be accessed by offenders.
Officers further advised residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity, unknown persons loitering, or vehicles acting suspiciously in the area. Timely reporting enables police to respond promptly and may prevent further offences. In an emergency, residents should contact 999. Non-emergency information can be reported via 101 or utilise the online chat function on the main Greater Manchester Police website.
Police will continue to monitor the area and conduct targeted patrols to deter criminal activity and provide reassurance to the community.
