SMART DOOR BELL COMPROMISED BY JAMMER DEVICE
Police have received a report where it appears that a Ring Doorbell was disabled via a jammer at a rural property in Stirlingshire.
The homeowner had separately reported suspicious use of a drone near their house to Police. The appearance of the drone coincided with their Ring Doorbell being removed from their wifi and therefore being not operational.
This is a bulletin to raise awareness of this emerging crime trend and to encourage anyone who experiences this to report it to Police either by phone on 101 or via the Police Scotland website at Contact Us form | Police Scotland.
Jammers are devices that can be bought for as little as £30 and which work by disturbing the wifi coverage of items therefore preventing them from working. They can affect any device which uses wifi or internet for working capability.
