Operation Elbert – Strong Results from Waltham Forest SNT Deployment Date: 18/02/2026 Locations: Walthamstow Town Centre, Station Approach (E17), Walthamstow Market, Leyton Underground Station Officers from the Waltham Forest Central SNTs, supported by Neighbourhood colleagues, carried out a pre‑planned passive drug dog operation across key transport and high‑footfall areas, after concerns highlighted through Met Engage, Ward panels and Police surgeries. Utilising the passive drugs dog under Operation Adder. The team delivered excellent results, reinforcing our proactive approach to crime reduction and community safety. Outcomes
The engagement between officers and the community was evident to see, the friendly passive drugs dogs really did their part in breaking down barriers and evoking conversations and building trust with all aspects of the community. PS Ben Stocker, who was the operational lead said " Working with project Adder and the passive drugs dog is a really positive experience. It gives the officers a real opportunity to be proactive, enhance their street skills making a positive difference in the areas they serve. We are already planning for the next operation !" | ||
