Rogue Traders

Dear Resident,

We are sending this message to make you aware of recent reports of rogue traders operating in the local area. These individuals often approach residents at their homes offering services such as gardening, driveway cleaning, roof repairs, or general maintenance work. While they may appear convincing, their work is frequently poor quality, overpriced, or left unfinished. In some cases, they may use aggressive tactics or attempt to defraud vulnerable residents.

Please remain vigilant and take note of the following advice:

Do not agree to work on your doorstep. Legitimate traders will never pressure you into making immediate decisions.

Always ask for identification and check it carefully.

Request written quotes and compare prices before agreeing to any service.

Avoid paying in cash or upfront.

Do not allow uninvited individuals into your home under any circumstances.

Report suspicious activity to the police via 101, or 999 in an emergency.

You can also report concerns to Trading Standards through the Citizens Advice Consumer Service.

We encourage residents to look out for neighbours especially those who may be more vulnerable and to share this information widely. Your awareness and quick reporting can help prevent further incidents.
