Cold Callers - Malvern - Arrest made |
||
|
We’re urging the public to be vigilant after “Nottingham Knockers” have been calling at homes in Malvern on 17th February 2026. Malvern Safer Neighbourhood Team and “A” shift Response attended an incident following multiple reports of a man visiting homes trying to sell household items from a large bag. A male was located and arrested for multiple offences relating to this incident. ‘Nottingham Knocker’ is the term given to, traditionally, younger men who go from door to door, selling household products. They often provide a story stating they are allowed to sell in the area and present it as a rehabilitation scheme; however, their “ID cards” are often fake and should be issued by the Chief Constable for the area they live in. The ‘sales pitches’ can also be part of a wider operation to identify burglary targets. The advice from Malvern Police is: Do not purchase anything from these types of salespeople, don’t let them in to your home and never hand over cash on your doorstep. If you feel threatened, close the door, and call the police. If you have any elderly or vulnerable relatives, friends or neighbours we ask you please share this message with them so that we can help to keep them safe. Thank you to members of the public that called this incident in last night.
