Weekly Force Update
Hello Resident, I hope you are doing well. It’s your local PCSO, PCSO Priest here with the weekly force update.
What has our team been doing?
Officers of the Bartley Green Neighbourhood team have attended Milebrook Hall for our monthly Cuppa with a Copper. It was great to see people attend the event, where we were able to speak to those attending and listen to any concerns and enquires what people may have. This allowed us to be able to give reassurance and guidance into the matter so that the right actions can be taken to help improve the chance of getting a positive outcome. So if it is the case where you have any concerns or enquiries with issues within the Bartley Green area, then please come down to the next Cuppa with a Copper Community event what will be listed below so that you can raise your concerns and questions to us where we can hopefully give you an answer and give you some reassurance.
Officers of the Bartley Green Neighbourhood team have been increasing their patrols throughout the tower’s blocks helping to move on any unwanted visitors from the block itself. We have also been in contact with the local housing officers to discuss the current security features for the blocks and to see if the council can lend a helping hand. If you do have issues within the tower blocks of Bartley Green where youths are causing Anti-social behaviour, then please contact West Midlands Police either through 999 if it is an emergency or 101 if your situation with the youths is not an emergency.

What’s been occurring in Bartley Green
Since the last WMNOW message, we have received two reports of Criminal damage to vehicles. We advise you the following to help it from happening to you. We advise that you tuck your car away in your garage or if you don’t have a garage, then tuck it down the side of your home to keep your vehicle out of sight and out of danger. We also advise that your install security features such as a gate what can be locked and kept secure to stop people from coming up your drive or on your home front. We also advise you to install CCTV cameras or a ring doorbell camera so that way any offence what is committed can be recorded by the cameras and can be used as evidence for officers to use or to give officers a potential lead to find a suspect and get a positive outcome.
Since the last WMNOW message, we have had three reports of vehicles being broken into and stolen. We advise you the following suggestions to help prevent this from happening to you. We firstly advise you to install A DISK Lock for your car’s steering wheel as this would make sure the offender can not drive off with your vehicle due to the difficulty the DISK Lock will cause. We also advise you to install trackers within your vehicle and hide them where you think people won’t check such as the seats, the head rest, or even the in the fabric on the inner roof of your car, just so it is out of sight where offenders will not find and officers can track and find the vehicle.
Additional Information
We regularly deal with drivers who decide to instead obstruct the footpath rather than lead room for people to get past, or park in places where they shouldn’t be obstructing drivers views when exiting a junction or obstructing people’s ability to cross the road. But the issue is, we are not always there to tackle and deal with these issues in person. But there is a solution. Below is a link, where the link takes you to West Midlands Police website page, where you can report car’s obstructing the pavement or parking in a dangerous way what affect your ability to see oncoming traffic when exiting a junction or when crossing the road. But you can also report vehicles parking on parking restrictions such as double yellows or Zig-Zag Road lines, as these can also be reported on our website. We still encourage residents to register their home/business CCTV and doorbell cameras, as this helps us to solve crimes, as your CCTV cameras can provide us the appropriate footage what captures the crime in question. This helps us solves crimes but also helps to keep your community safer. You can use the link below, to register your CCTV cameras by putting in the relevant details what the West Midlands Police website ask’s of you. This helps officers be able to get in contact with you if they believe that your CCTV camera has any potential footage of a offence what has been committed. CCTV Registry | West Midlands Police
As of this moment we are still currently at 1002 members who have signed up on wmnow for Bartley green.
I believe in the saying ‘the more the merrier’, so if you know someone who may have an interest in joining, then please share them this link below. This will take them to the wmnow websites homepage, where they can create an account by clicking the sign-up button, and then put in the necessary information. Once everything is done and the account is created, they can then receive force update messages from their local Neighbour team. This helps to bring a community together and gives us the chance to receive information and intelligence about anything going on in the area.
We are still experiencing an increase of demand from across the area over the last few weeks, with more people calling and asking for help. Our staff work extremely hard to answer and respond to your calls and live chats. But due to the high demand it can cause callers to have to wait longer than they should, what is something neither of us want at all. We prioritize your enquires/calls based on how urgent they are, but we always appreciate that you want help as soon as possible.
In Non-emergencies circumstances, we want you to get in contact with us through the live web chat, or the Non-emergency telephone 101.
If your circumstances are emergencies, then please call 999.
We are still looking to recruit for the Street watch initiative. For further information please visit the WMP website for details. You can use the link below what will take you to our page where the necessary steps to register your interest in the street watch programme, can be made. Street Watch | West Midlands Police
