Theft of Motor Vehicle

Dear Resident

Between 17:30 hours on Monday 16th February to 06:15 hours on Tuesday 17th February, a theft of a vehicle occurred in Durrants Lane, Berkhamsted.

Victim has parked their company vehicle along the road by their home address. When leaving the address this morning, they noticed the vehicle was no longer there. Company name on the vehicle is “BOSS PLANT SALES” with the index AE25 XKW.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
