Lunar New Year, Ramadan & Lent in St James’s & West End Wards |
||
|
It’s a busy week on St James’s ward as residents, businesses and visitors alike celebrate the Lunar New Year in our world famous Chinatown.
This coming Sunday 22nd February we will join our West End colleagues at Soho Fire Station on Shaftesbury Avenue for an engagement event where locals can meet police and fire officers and see first hand how we do our jobs. There will also be a parade, led by a Soho Fire Engine, leaving Trafalgar Square at 10am.
Across London in February and March, colleagues will be providing additional reassurance patrols at Mosques and other places of worship. Ramadan begins this week and will last until Eid on 19th March.
This week also marks the beginning of Lent in the Christian calendar. This period will see increased prayer and attendance at our many churches across St James’s and the West End as well preparations for Easter at the start of April.
At this sacred time of fasting and reflection, should you need any police support please do not hesitate in contacting your local policing team. As always, call 999 in emergency or 101 to make a report. You can also report crime or anti-social behaviour on our website met.police.uk
We wish you all a Happy Lunar New Year, a peaceful Ramadan and we hope to see you at our upcoming engagement events.
