I am the Area Coordinator for the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in Penkridge. I am currently setting up new schemes and have just created one for Cherrybrook. The benefits are to enhance community safety, reduce crime rates, and foster stronger relationships among residents. Neighbourhood Watch schemes have been shown to reduce local crime rates, particularly burglaries, anti-social behaviour, and vandalism. When neighbours keep an eye out for one another, it creates a sense of collective responsibility and sends a clear message to potential offenders that the community is alert and active.
The plan is to get as many residents as possible onto a scheme and set up a What’s app group. This has proved very successful on other estates, where residents can alert members to any suspicious activity, especially rogue traders door knocking. This has also given reassurance to vulnerable residents when electric or water issues have occurred .
