There has been a number of occasions where I have had meetings or visited members of the public, where they have mentioned that incidents are being put on social media sights. Please be aware: the police do not monitor social media platforms for reports of crime or suspicious activity. This includes: - Facebook
- Facebook community or residents’ pages
- WhatsApp groups
- Other social media or messaging apps
Posting concerns or incidents on social media does not mean the police will see them or be able to respond. How to Report Something ProperlyIf you see something suspicious, are a victim of crime, or need police assistance, please report it using the correct channels: - Call 999
For emergencies or when a crime is happening now, or there is immediate danger. - Call 101
For non-emergencies, such as reporting a crime that has already happened or ongoing concerns. - Online
Use the “Report” tab on the Staffordshire Police website to report incidents, concerns, or provide information online.
Why This Matters- Social media posts can be missed, delayed, or not seen at all by police
- Reporting correctly helps officers respond faster and appropriately
- Your report could prevent crime or help protect someone else
