🏡 Home Security Advice ✅ Secure all doors and windows, especially at night and when leaving home. ✅ Strengthen patio and French doors using: Anti‑snap locks, patlock-style internal door security, additional sash jammers ✅ Install CCTV or video doorbells, and be sure to charge them regularly. ✅ Ensure exterior lighting is working and set to activate on movement. ✅ Keep valuables out of sight and avoid leaving keys, wallets, or handbags near entry points. ✅ Consider setting your house alarm at night or when going to bed.
🚗 Vehicle Security Advice ✅ Keep car keys away from doors and windows, ideally stored in a room further inside the house. ✅ Use a Faraday pouch for keyless entry fobs to block signal‑boosting theft attempts. ✅ Fit visible deterrents such as a steering wheel lock. ✅ Ensure your vehicle’s tracking system is active and the details are up to date. ✅ Review your driveway lighting and consider motion‑activated security lights. ✅ If you notice someone walking close to driveways or trying door handles, report this promptly.
🔑 Car Key Burglary – Specific Advice Burglars targeting keys will often: 🚨 Check patios, kitchens, and hallways for keys left on hooks or worktops. 🚨 Use tools through letterboxes to hook keys left within reach. 🚨 Search quickly once inside, heading straight for obvious key storage spots. You can reduce the risk by: ✔️ Storing keys out of sight and in a secure location, not in bowls or hooks near entry points. ✔️ Using key safes or lockable key cabinets inside the home. ✔️ Keeping car fobs in Faraday pouches overnight. ✔️ Ensuring patio doors have reinforced locks or additional security devices.
