Piccadilly Gardens Team Keep Up the Pressure with String of Arrest |
||
|
Officers from the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team have carried out a series of arrests and secured multiple charges over the past four days while on patrol in and around Piccadilly Gardens.
On Wednesday 11th, PC Marothi and PC Cross arrested an adult male after witnessing him behaving in a threatening and abusive manner towards members of the public. The male was charged with a public order offence and obstructing police. He has since appeared at court and has been given bail conditions prohibiting him from returning to Manchester city centre.
On Thursday 12th, Sergeant Wyatt and PC Simm arrested an adult male who was refusing to leave a restaurant. The male initially provided false details to officers, but further enquiries confirmed he had recently escaped from police custody and was wanted in connection with theft offences. He was arrested, charged, and remanded into custody, where he remains awaiting trial in March.
On Friday 13th, PC Simm and PC McKenzie arrested two adult females who were wanted by police. One was taken to courts, with the other heading straight to prison.
Today, Saturday 14th, PC Simm secured charges against a 16-year-old male who was found in possession of a zombie-style knife in Piccadilly Gardens overnight. Removing weapons from the area remains a key priority for the team. PC McKenzie also secured charges against another adult male who was wanted for theft and had multiple outstanding warrants.
Sergeant Jon Wyatt of the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team said:
“This has been a very productive few days for the team. Their proactive patrols and commitment to tackling crime in Piccadilly Gardens have resulted in a number of offenders being brought before the courts. This work helps protect the public and ensures those responsible for offences are held accountable.”
Officers will continue patrols in the area to prevent crime, deal with offenders, and provide reassurance to the public.
