Stay Safe and Secure – Review the Standard of Your Door Locks |
||
|
There has been an increase in burglaries where offenders gain entry by snapping the door lock.
Recent reports indicate that the Ossett area has seen a notable rise in lock‑snapping incidents, with offenders targeting homes fitted with vulnerable euro‑cylinder locks.
To protect your home, check the type and standard of the cylinder lock installed on your UPVC or composite doors.
Consider upgrading to euro profile cylinders that meet the TS 007 3‑star rating and/or the Sold Secure Diamond Standard (SS312). Cylinders tested to the SS312 Diamond standard are often referred to as anti‑snap or snap‑safe locks.
If replacing a cylinder yourself, ensure it is measured accurately and does not protrude from the door or handle once fitted.
Remember to check all external doors, including front, side, rear, conservatory, and French doors.
