Urgent roadworks update - A38 (Castle Way, Willington) |
||
|
Mercia Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) has been informed by a local representative for Derbyshire County Council (DCC) of some urgent works taking place in Willington next week.
Councillor Matt Benfield states that emergency water main repairs will be taking place next week at the A38 southbound off-slip onto the A5132 (Castle Way), Willington, near the OK Diner.
According to the Council, South Staffs Water have identified a significant leak (losing over 4 litres per second) on a main at this location. Under national regulations this qualifies as immediate emergency works.
If left unrepaired, there is a real risk the leak could worsen and potentially require an emergency closure of the A38 itself, so repairs cannot be delayed.
What this means:
Traffic wishing to exit at Willington will be diverted:
Preventing Issues on Etwall Road & Level Crossing
Many will remember the significant disruption during previous A38 works, particularly drivers diverting via the B5008 Etwall Road and blocking the level crossing.
