E-Bike and Moped Operation - Knollmead Park Cycle Path

Good afternoon Ward Resident, 

Today the Team carried out tasking down at the Knollmead Park Cycle Path in response to requests from residents relating to members of the public using the pathway in an Anti Social manner. Residents often explain that bike users ride at excessive speeds, as well as sight riders on E-Bikes and E-Scooters/Mopeds whom also drive through the cycle paths at excessive speeds, causing an unsafe environment for members of the public, children and others who walk through the space. 

King George's & Sunray Ward Team officers as well as officers from surrounding wards including the cluster Sargent attended and supported the operation. Officers were placed at points along the pathway and were tasked at stopping individuals on bikes and electric vehicles. During the hour long operation officers sighted:

4 - Pedal Cycle Users 

1 -  E-Bike 

3 - Forest Bikes 

0 - Mopeds 

The rider of the E-Bike was stopped and spoken to and had their bike checked. The bike was of the legal limit and the rider was free to move on but was reminded to take care in relation to using the pathway/cycle path. 

Officers will be carrying out this operation again at different dates and times throughout the day.
