A large machete recovered by police

Larkswood & Valley SNT, acting on data‑mapped intelligence identified an emerging robbery hotspot. Whilst conducting plain‑clothes patrols in the vicinity, officers observed a suspect vehicle of interest.

The vehicle made off from police, and during the attempt to evade officers, an occupant discarded a large machete. A group of local youths were located at the scene shortly afterwards; all were detained and subjected to searches under appropriate police powers.

The weapon was recovered, and further enquiries are ongoing to identify all individuals involved and assess any links to recent robbery offences in the area.

The expert knowledge of the designated ward children and young people officer (DWO CYP) has lead to identification of those likely to be involved in this criminality.
