Drug arrest closure |
||
|
On Friday 6th February officers from the Vincent Square ward team oversaw the implementation of a closure order on Flat 50 Coburg Place. For several months we have been gathering evidence concerning the use of the address as a centre for the supply and consumption of Class A drugs. This illegal activity has had a significant negative impact on the lives of local residents. They have suffered greatly from the anti-social behaviours triggered by those taking drugs on site, gaining access to the building to buy them and gathering outside at all hours of the day and night. While attending the closure officers noticed a male approaching the address who ran when he saw the police presence. He was quickly apprehended and found to be in possession of around a dozen wraps of suspected crack cocaine and heroin. He was arrested for Possession with Intent to Supply. An authorised search of the male then found him to be in possession of a key to a locked room at the property where paraphernalia consistent with the dealing of Class A drugs was found. Now that the property has been closed and sealed it can no longer be used to prepare and distribute illegal drugs. Your ward team remains determined to do all it can to disrupt the local drug trade by arresting dealers and by uncovering and closing down the addresses they use. | ||
