Shop theft remains a significant policing priority, with several high-profile arrests and specialized operations occurring as of February 2026. Recent Incident & Arrest Samples February 1, 2026: A male was charged with multiple shop theft offences and breaching court bail; he was remanded in custody for a court appearance. January 20, 2026: Local PCSOs patrolling Bentley Bridge spotted and arrested a wanted male for previous shop theft offences. January 6, 2026: A 43-year-old man was detained in the Westcroft area (Cannock Road) and charged with three thefts and breaching a restraining order. Another male was charged and recalled to prison on the same day for shop theft. Heath Town Meat Theft: An offender was caught red-handed attempting to steal a large quantity of meat products from a retail premises in Heath Town. Targeted Operations & Hotspots The Wednesfield and Heath Town Neighbourhood Policing Team has identified the following areas for increased patrols to deter shoplifting and anti-social behaviour: Weekend patrols are intensified here to deter large groups and shoplifters. Officers conduct regular high-visibility patrols, including plain-clothed operations that recently disrupted a theft in progress. Wednesfield High Street Dedicated officers (DNOs) engage with local businesses and shoppers to gather intelligence on retail crime.
