📢 Community Alert – Suspicious Behaviour / Rogue Traders Hello all, Your Local Policing Team has received a recent report of suspicious individuals operating in the area of Hoarwithy, going door‑to‑door offering services of a Tree Surgeon. Unfortunately at the same time as the suspicious persons were in the area a resident had their emersion tank taken from the end of the driveway / garden without permission. These individuals may: Pressure residents into agreeing to work on the spotQuote very low prices initially, then increase costs once work beginsClaim work is urgently needed when it is notTarget vulnerable or elderly residentsLack identification, paperwork, or a legitimate company addressWhat to DoDo not agree to any work from cold callers.Do not let unknown individuals into your home.If you feel pressured, close the door and contact police if needed.Consider checking on elderly neighbours who may be approached.Report any suspicious vehicles, behaviour, or doorstep callers to us with descriptions and, if possible, a vehicle registration.How to Stay SafeUse trusted, recommended local tradespeople.Never hand over cash up front.Genuine companies won’t mind you taking time to verify who they are.Use door chains where possible.Install cctv at the property such as a Ring doorbell or equivalent.Install motion sensor lighting for any outside darker / unlit areas.Your reports help us build a clearer picture and take action where necessary.
