Operation Halcyon - A good day for Merton |
||
|
Good afternoon,
I would like to provide you all with an update following enforcement activity by Merton SNT under Operation Halcyon.
Operation Halcyon is a Merton SNT led operation which targets high harm offenders, involved in the supply of drugs and associated violence. As you know, the supply of drugs fuels other concerning criminality, such as the exploitation of young and/or vulnerable people, the carrying of weapons, violence and anti-social behaviour. This operation was coordinated following concerns by the public, our partners and the Police in relation to crime and ASB believed linked to local gangs.
Yesterday (05/02/2026) saw the coming together of the wider Met Police, to support us here in Merton to tackle some of our challenges. Specialist teams working side by side with your local Officers. It culminated in the execution of x15 premises warrants, resulting in the following –
In addition to the above, we also secured Closure Orders at two separate addresses, owing to concerns of ongoing crime, ASB and exploitation. This will prohibit access into these premises for a period of three months, to prevent any further criminal use of the properties.
A number of criminal investigations are now underway, as a result of yesterday’s enforcement action.
Seizing drugs, cash, weapons and premises off of suspected criminals will disrupt their network and is a good day for honest, law-abiding people.
We are grateful for the ongoing support of the community and I encourage you to continue reporting crime and suspicious activity directly to the Police. Alternatively, you can report suspicious activity anonymously to Crimestoppers. Public information is key in supporting our ongoing work.
I hope our latest efforts under our commitment to community crime fighting will offer you reassurance that we continue to listen to your concerns, as well as working closely with our partners to tackle these issues head on. We know there is more to do and we will continue to listen and take action.
Please see below for the official MPS press release –
Kind regards
Insp Kev Chambers
