Witnesses appeal following collision between police car and cyclist

A man has been taken to hospital following a collision with a police car in Northamptonshire.

The collision happened at about 7.30pm on Wednesday, February 4 in Gypsy Lane, Irchester.

Following the collision the cyclist was transferred to the University Hospital Coventry where his injuries were described as non-life-changing or threatening.

The road was temporarily closed while police carried out initial investigations.

In line with standard protocol when police vehicles are involved in collisions, Northamptonshire Police has voluntarily referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of collision and may have dash-cam footage.
