Who investigates serious sexual assault? – The role of PVP

We are highlighting the vital work carried out every day by our Protecting Vulnerable People (PVP) Unit.

Within the PVP Unit, officers lead complex investigations whilst ensuring that vulnerable people are safeguarded throughout every stage of the process.

Working closely with partner agencies, the teams within PVP make sure specialist expertise is available whenever vulnerability is identified.

The PVP unit is made up of several dedicated teams, each specialising in different areas of vulnerability and types of investigation, including the most serious cases of child abuse and sexual offences.
