Information request for Cold callers

Dear Residents,

The Towcester Neighbourhood Policing Team would like to know if you have any information that could help us regarding cold callers who may be attempting to buy gold at the doorstep in your area. We believe this has happened in Bugbrooke, Nether Heyford, Kislingbury, Harpole and Duston. 

We would like to remind people that you are under no obligation to allow people such as these into your home. Our advice would be that unless you know who is at your door, do not open the door or engage. Once you do this they will see who is in the home and its more difficult to get them to leave. These people can often be persistent and may make return visits.

There are legitimate companies who do offer gold and silver purchasing but they would not cold call at your home uninvited and pressure you.  We believe these people are still operating in the area, if they do attend your address please refuse entry and call 999 explaining that you have received a message about this.  if you are able to safely get vehicle details that would be helpful.

If you have received this message, could you share with any older relatives who may not see or receive these emails.  Reminding them about the use of door chains and if they believe the people are going to cause issues or they feel in fear then to call 999.
