What's the news headline about?
Membership of Hillingdon Neighbourhood Watch has just passed the 10,000 mark, which means that as a member you are living in the Borough with the highest Neighbourhood Watch membership of all of the 32 London Boroughs. What does this mean to our members?
Our members have individually made a huge contribution to police cases in the past 12 months by actively responding to police and NW appeals with useful CCTV evidence that has led to arrests. Our members engage with the police by reporting all crime, putting crime prevention advice into practice and by actively looking out for their neighbours. The end result helps to make Hillingdon Borough a safer place in which to live and work. What's the next step?
Our aim is to expand our membership so that more residents are receiving, and acting on, crime-related messages directly to their inbox. In turn this leads to better interaction with our police who are very supportive of Neighbourhood Watch. If the police and public work more closely together then the crime outcomes can be even more positive on our Borough.  How can I help with this?
There are two ways in which you can help to grow NW membership on your Ward to improve your community interaction with the police:
Publicity - Please use your social media channels and WhatsApp groups etc to encourage your neighbours to join Neighbourhood Watch as direct members, or simply speak to them directly next time you see them in the street. CCTV Watch - Many of the major police breakthroughs have come from residents responding directly to police appeals by taking a few moments to check their CCTV and video doorbells. To make this process as efficient as possible please log in to the Alerts system and mark your account to indicate that you have domestic CCTV, a video doorbell, or a dashcam. This allows appeals to be directly targeted to those with CCTV in the immediate vicinity of any crime.
