🔔Don't ignore the beeps, peeps! This week is #ElectricalFireSafetyWeek - a national campaign raising awareness of fire risks in the home, and how small actions can save lives. Smoke alarms send out a shrill shriek when we 'press to test' - or they go off for real. But what about the faint 'chirp' they sometimes emit? It's MEANT to be annoying, because it's a life-saving warning. It's your smoke alarm's way of saying: "Please replace my battery, so I can keep you safe." Homes without working smoke alarms are ELEVEN TIMES more likely to have a fatal fire than homes with an alarm that works. Simple steps to stay safe: ✔️test all your smoke alarms today (and regularly) ✔️change the batteries if needed ✔️react to the beep - fix it! |
